Although Archers are heavily countered by shield-wielding enemies on land, they can still have the upper hand by knocking them off their ship and it's quite easy to do so. That's why Archers are even against them.

Saying that Archers are bad without hills is wrong. Archers do shoot further from elevated points, but the increased range is too short, and shooting horizontally from the ground hits more consistently.

Huscarls can be quite problematic when they can get a kill on any non-shield units. You can prevent that by placing infantry in front of pikes and letting Hurscarls throw their axe at infantry shields, then u can safely back off with your infantry and let the pikes take care of them.

The most unforgiving strategy game I've ever played. You rely on your commanders, invest heavily in them, and naturally form relationships with them that feel personal. Often, the upgrades you give to one commander, will be purchased with coins that cost you the death of another. So, if you lose that second commander? It's like losing both of them. I've had battles in this game that I will never forget. No other mobile game has managed to have this level of emotional impact.

It's simple, yet deep, can be played in a casual way, progressing one island at a time, or you can sit down and campaign away. Highly recommended!!

what a perfect little game. challenge and fun balanced in a great way while presented in a beautiful art style. the procedurally generated islands trigger something in my brain. I could stare at them for hours imagining the wider world which is implied. the only gripe i have is that there isnt more of it. this seems like such an obvious base for more expanded content, but I suspect this wont ever happen because the game is already a completed project. its perfect as it is.
